Lisa is from Elmwood Park, Illinois. Her first involvement in lighting design was solely based on the fact that she could figure out how something worked. She was thrown in front of a lighting console and handed a Shakespeare script. The job came easy at no surprise, being that her first word was ‘light.’ She began designing plays and concerts and working at a few local theatres.

Lisa then went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue a BFA in theatre design and technology, because the idea of a real job just didn’t have any appeal. There, at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, she worked on theatre, dance, and opera performances within the university’s fine arts college, as well as many visiting performances.

After leaving the U of I, Lisa quickly ran away with the circus joining the 136th Edition of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey.  Despite living in an 8'x7' room on a train she became hooked on the circus, especially after remembering facts about herself such as she knows how to juggle and likes to climb on things.

Of course, shady things happen at the circus and Lisa soon found herself collaborating with a couple of clowns (really, actual clowns) on a show called Out of Orbit which premiered in NYC in 2007. While working on this show, she soon got hooked on (are we seeing a trend here?) New York, and relocated from Chicago. Now living in Queens, she has designed for theatre companies including InProximity Theatre, Circus Bambouk, TheatreTHE, Sinking Ship Productions, St. Bart's Players, Gulfshore Playhouse, and The Cockeyed Optimists, and has even performed on stage a couple of times as a juggler. When not playing in theatres with clowns, Lisa travels as a technical director and project manager for corporate events. She also spends a lot of time riding her bike, taking photos, and feeling the pain of being a die hard fan of certain sports teams from Chicago.
